Derailed on Thanksgiving

Well, I got off track on Thanksgiving Day and haven't been able to get back on track since. While I didn't eat a lot on Thanksgiving Day, I ate cooked food and some desserts............sugar. I paid dearly for it as I had a horrible night Thursday night. Couldn't sleep due to my insides hurting, I could not get comfortable in the bed.

I can definitely see where it's just easier to not do the cooked thing at all because it's tough going back. Today, I did about half and half, half cooked, half raw. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get back, 100 percent. For the week that I was 100 percent raw I really felt good, both physically and mentally. Thank God tomorrow is a new day..........

Going good...

I'm losing track as to how far into this I am. The weekend went well, Sunday was not the challenge I thought it was going to be as I tried to pack plenty of raw food to hold me for the day. I left town with 3 apples and 3 oranges plus two bottles of water. After church we went out to lunch as usual and we went to a buffet. It was great because they had greens and vegies for a salad and fruit which consisted of melons, grapes and pineapple. So, I had a huge plate of the greens and vegies as well as a huge plate of fruit! I did have to use some junky salad dressing but I used it very sparingly. If my company noticed I was eating differently, they never said anything. By late in the day I was hungry so the apples and oranges came in handy and I ate them all! My husband came home with some of the jerky I had make and sent him out of town with so I ate a few pieces of that. It's not exactly raw, although I made it on the lowest setting possible so as to not over do it!

All in all, I think the weekend went well and today I'm totally back on track. I'm still doing some major cleansing, at least I did today. I'll be eager to check the scale tomorrow to see if it has moved!

Morning of Day three

Unfortunately, I did not sleep as well as I did the first night. Oh well,,,,I'm sure it will get better! I was encouraged that I weighed in at just under 196 pounds! I don't want to get into the habbit of weighing every day, perhaps once or twice per week would be good. I dehydrated some pumpkin seeds over night and it was too much, they are too dried out. There's a learning curve with the dehydrating thing.
I'm probably going to contine with a raw egg daily as I don't want to deal with the issue of B12 deficiency. That or I'll get some good supplements. From the research I've done it can take years for the deficiency to show up but it can also cause some pretty nasty things in the body which I have no interest in experiencing.

Day two of my raw regime

I'm winding down for the day, I'm tired and ready for bed. Today I had some major cleansing going on in my body which is to be expected. It was rather difficult being at working and having to be in the bathroom frequently, but I managed. I spent the evening looking at raw websites, videos, etc, just to keep up the motivation. I was going to listen in on a call from a "raw seminar", but after the first few minutes of this "spiritual" stuff that was so "out there", I hung up. Instead I did some research on eating raw and B12 deficiency.

I had my raw "bread" for my sandwich today for lunch and some of the girls were intrigued. The bread was quite good, however next time I make it I'll add a bit more sea salt and some rosemary, I think that will make it even better. My salon owner friend thinks she may want to try this with me. It would be fun to have someone doing the same thing. She's motivated to lose 20 pounds before she has a face lift next year.

This is so easy right now because I only have to feed myself. Next week I have to get ready for Thanksgiving. Just because I'm eating raw doesn't mean any of my guests will be interested. So, I'm planning to make a few raw things in addition to a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings. I just don't plan to eat the cooked food. So far so good, tomorrow I will weigh, if I remember so I can see how I'm progressing!
Morning of day two! I slept really good and the only reason I mention it is that I've ALWAYS had issues with sleeping and it certainly didn't get any better when I fell on ice February of this year and shattered my left elbow and shoulder. I have a new steel ball (I think) for a shoulder and they wired and screwed the elbow back together. Last Tuesday I had surgery to remove the hardware in the elbow as it was bothersome. So, I've been healing from that, slept for the first 3 nights in the chair sitting up with I did for about 4-5 months following the accident. Anyway, that is why sleeping well is a BIG deal.

As I look back at my day, my smoothie for breakfast was probably way too many calories. I could have done without the 1/2 cup of macademia/date mix. Oh well, thank God I get to do it over again tomorrow!
November 14, 2007
My first day this time around of all raw food consumption. For the past three nights I've been reading of other people's success in loosing massive amounts of weight with raw eating. I have resisted this for many reasons. I hate the "labels" such as vegetarian, vegan, lacto-ovo vegetarian, whatever, I don't like any of these labels. Plus I hate all of the new age spiritual crap that comes with most of the raw eating movement. However, after weighing this morning and finding myself at 199.6 pounds on a 5' 4" frame, I decided enough is enough! I have, at this point, tried EVERYTHING, including paying to have a lap band put in to the tune of $9500. The only thing I haven't done is eat raw for an extended period of time. Several years ago I became a trained Health Minister through Hallelujah Acres and I didn't even stick with that 100%, if I would have I probably wouldn't be where I am right now.

So, to recap my day, I started out with my smoothie with undenatured (means raw) whey protein powder, 1/2 raw frozen banana, and 1/2 cup of macadamia nut/date mixture plus I added a raw egg. Lunch was a sandwhich made with 2 slices of sprouted bread (Ezekial) raw cheese, slices of cucumber and sprouts and an apple. By the time I got home from stopping at the grocery store after work, I was a REALLY hungry and wanted to eat everthing I cold get my hands on. I started with a banana which I had while checking email. Followed that up with two ribs of celery with some raw almond butter. Then I mashed an avacado and ate it as a "dip" with a cut up celery rib. A while later I had an apple. So, day number one comes to a conclusion. Actually it was pretty easy. The hubby left town this morning and will be gone for the next 6 days so I decided this would be an ideal time to start since I only have to think about feeding me. I already know Sunday will be the hardest time as we always go out to lunch after church. So, I need to be gearing up for that and rehearsing in my mind how I will deal with that. I'm off to a good start anyway...........
